Meadows Montessori School
"A country place called Kinderhaus"
The Meadows Montessori School is “a country place” where children grow and learn in a very special indoor/outdoor environment built around the educational principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The classrooms are found in lovely farm houses situated on nine acres of peaceful countryside. There are wide open play areas, fenced pastures for the horses and a farmyard for chickens, ducks, rabbits and garden. It’s all nestled in a meadow filled with bugs and birds on the south end of the rolling Evaro hills. Age appropriate learning experiences are available for children age 6 months through 6 years old. The doors are open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Maria Montessori founded the first Casa dei Bambini or Children’s House in 1907. Today there are thousands of Montessori Schools. They are “child sized” worlds filled with “real life” activities to touch, manipulate, discover and explore. The children learn through “hands-on experiences” and truly “teach themselves”. A Montessori school offers much more than a classroom experience. It provides the framework for children to build social and emotional community in an atmosphere where they are respected and empowered as individual human beings. Being part of this school feels like being in an extended family where a young child can safely, at the deepest possible level, learn to believe in themselves as they make relationships with others.
